The Citroen DS is a French automotive icon that was a technological tour de force with things like an advanced hydropneumatic suspension system and disc brakes, something no previous mass-produced car had. Fast forward to 2020 and while Citroen continues to build some nice cars, none of them push the industry forward quite like the original DS did. That’s where this independently made concept comes in.
Fittingly dubbed the Citroen DS Pallas
Homage, it has been designed by Sang Won Lee and brings the iconic design of
the original DS into the modern world. While it looks unlike any other current
Citroen models, it is the perfect throwback to the original.
The overall shape of the concept is the
first thing that catches the eye. It has a pronounced front overhang and
prominent front wheel arches and then a wraparound windscreen. The designer has
also equipped the DS Pallas Homage with a long wheelbase and a low roofline
that extends the cabin to beyond the rear axle. Among the particularly cool
design elements of the car are prominent LED headlights, a sharp front
splitter, sleek doors with no obvious handles, and aerodynamic wheel covers at
the rear.
The original Citroen DS was built from
1955 to 1975 in sedan, station wagon and convertible body configurations Sang
Won Lee has imagined the DS Pallas Homage as having an electric powertrain,
hence why the car has been equipped with such a spacious cabin. While not
mentioned in these renderings, there would probably be ample luggage space both
in the front and the rear.
