With 710 HP and 875 Nm of torque produced by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is one of the most powerful SUVs on the planet. Nonetheless, Hennessey thought that it needs a steroid shot, so they have launched the HPE1000 kit for it, the same one that’s already available for other Hellcat-powered vehicles.
Hennessey’s kit includes a new 2.65-liter
supercharger system, high-flow catalytic converters and supercharger bypass
valve, throttle body tune, pulley and fuel injectors upgrade, HPE calibration,
high-flow air induction system and several other mods, forcing the engine to
pump out 1,012 HP at 6,500 rpm and 1,314 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm.
The Texan tuner claims that the 0 to 60
mph (0-96 km/h) sprint has dropped from 3.5 to 2.8 seconds and that the Durango
SRT Hellcat is a 10-second car, with the quarter-mile completed in 10.8 seconds
at 203 km/h. There is no reference to the new top speed, yet the stock
SUV can do 290 km/h.
Hennessey will make sure that the tuned
Durango SRT Hellcat performs as intended, as their work includes, besides the
installation of all parts, road testing of up to 320 km and chassis
dyno testing. The conversion is covered by a 1-year/12,000-mile (19,312-km)
warranty.
Don’t expect anything wild in the looks
department, as it’s not exactly the tuner’s cup of tea. Instead, they will
discreetly fit the ride with the specific exterior badges, ‘HPE1000’ logos and
serial numbered plaques, probably inside and in the engine compartment.
