A couple of months after being revealed to the world, Lamborghini continues to put the final touches on the limited-run Essenza SCV12. Not only does the track-only hypercar look amazing but this clip reveals it is one of the best-sounding cars on earth.
Developed exclusively for track use, the
Essenza SCV12 is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 related to the
engine of the Aventador. With that in mind, you could be excused for thinking
it would sound very similar to the Aventador. However, it doesn’t. In fact, the
howl of the V12 engine makes its road-legal sibling seem tame.
Lamborghini recently hit the famed Monza
F1 circuit with the car and invited YouTuber 19Bozzy92 to the test day. As the
car does not need to meet sound requirements of a road-legal car nor does it
have any of the restrictions placed on race cars, Lamborghini Squadra Corse has
gone all out and developed a car that makes virtually everything this side of a
V12, V10, or V8-powered Formula 1 car seem restrained.
It’s not simply the engine itself that
creates such an incredible cacophony. Lamborghini has also fitted the hypercar
with a custom Capristo exhaust that reduces backpressure while adding to the
symphony of the V12. The SCV12 also features an X-trac sequential six-speed
transmission that adds to the auditory experience during upshifts and
downshifts.
Lamborghini will build just 40 examples of
the Essenza SCV12. Those that buy one will be invited to drive them during
several private events held at FIA Grade 1 homologated circuits. Technical
assistance will be provided by Squadra Corse technical staff.
