Ever since the fifth-gen Micra entered production at the end of 2016, Nissan has constantly upgraded it, be it with new engines or modern tech, and now it has received a facelift. While the 2021 Micra doesn’t look all that different than the current model, it has become a tad more appealing with the introduction of the N-Design grade and the N-Sport model, which is now a permanent part of the lineup, with sporty and youthful looks inside and out.
The all-new N-Design features an exterior
can be personalized with Gloss Black or Chrome accents as standard, and sits on
the new two-tone 16-inch Genki wheels. It also has black cloth seats with grey
accents and a leather-look for the door cards, kneepads and front panel, and
can be ordered with the Energy Orange trim for a more dynamic appearance.
Setting the Micra N-sport apart from
lesser variants are the glossy black accents on the front, sides and rear, and
the 17-inch black Perso alloy wheels. It is offered with LED front fog lamps
and headlights as standard, Alcantara trim inside and ergonomically designed
seats said to provide enhanced support and comfort on long journeys.
The familiar Tekna grade is still part of
the range, sporting a generous equipment level with standard Around View
Monitor, moving object detection and Blind Spot Warning, as well as a Bose
premium sound system. Other tech features include the NissanConnect
infotainment system with TomTom sat-nav, available as an option in all variants
starting from the Acenta, the Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Siri voice
recognition.
From the Visia upwards, Nissan’s small
hatchback gets Hill Start Assist, Intelligent Ride Control, Intelligent Trace
Control and the Safety Pack with High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition,
Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Recognition and
Intelligent Lane Intervention that’s offered as standard in certain grades.
The turbocharged 1.0-liter engine, which
is compliant with the Euro 6d emission standard, offers, according to Nissan,
“a dynamic and efficient driving experience”, as well as “enhanced torque
delivery curve” that makes it “perfect for navigating cities”.
