Carscoops spy photographers have snapped the 2022 BMW X7 once again, and this time it wasn’t resting on a trailer, but driving around the streets of Munich, Germany. One of the highlights of the mid-cycle refresh is the new front end. The redesigned headlamps have moved further down and the grille appears to have been modified. The bonnet is all-new, and so is the bumper, with the redesigned lower air intake and integrated fog lamps.
Despite being wrapped up, the back end
doesn’t seem to have been changed at all. The taillights appear to sport the
same graphics, joined together by the chrome strip, the tailgate retains the
split-opening design and even the bumper seems identical. Still, this is only a
prototype, so things could change when the production model debuts, probably
late next year or in 2022.
We’d expect a few upgrades inside, with
the novelties perhaps including new software for the infotainment system and
digital instrument cluster, as well as more upholstery and trim options, but
this is pure speculation, as the interior of the facelifted X7 has yet to open
up to the camera.
The X7 M50i will remain
the top-of-the-line variant, as the X7 M won’t happen, yet those looking for a
sportier model will be able to order the new Alpina XB7, which is believed to
follow it around one year after the debut. The powertrain lineup should also
include at least one plug-in hybrid.
