Having switched to a front-wheel drive construction, the latest BMW 1-Series is not that exciting to drive – at least not in lesser versions. Things are a bit different in M135i xDrive guise, which goes up against the likes of the Audi S3 Sportback and Mercedes-AMG A35. This example has paid a visit to Dahler, with the focal point being more power. Thus, the tuner has lifted the engine’s output to 348 PS and torque to 500 Nm.
That’s a 42 PS and 50 Nm jump over the stock model, whose 2.0-liter turbocharged
four-cylinder enables it to hit 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and max out at
250 km/h top speed. There is no word on the new acceleration time,
but the tuned Bimmer will now run out of breath at 265 km/h.
Dahler has other parts in store for the
new M135i xDrive, such as an exhaust system with 114-mm ceramic-coated
tailpipes, and an exhaust flap control for a more sonorous soundtrack. There is
also a coilover suspension or a lowering spring set built by the tuner, with
the latter being optimized for the stock electronic damping.
As with most modern tuning jobs, this one
also includes a set of large wheels. The ultra-light 20-inch forged set
provides a 30-35 percent weight saving compared to the standard alloys and
improves the dynamics of the car. To find out how much each upgrade costs,
