The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Baja Boot could soon be offered with an even more powerful engine that will no doubt make it an absolute weapon to drive. Unveiled last year and entered into the grueling Baja 1000, the Baja Boot comes standard with a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated LS1 V8 producing 460 hp. It can also be optioned with Chevrolet’s 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8, used in vehicles such as the C7 Corvette Z06 and churning out 650 hp. Now, SCG has revealed an even more powerful engine could become available.
In a recent Instagram post celebrating the
first customer delivery of the SCG 004 GTC, the company wrote that “We are
seriously thinking about offering our Boots with LT5s which will make them the
highest Super SUVs available.”
Chevrolet introduced its 6.2-liter
supercharged LT5 V8 with the C7 Corvette ZR1, where it pumps out 755 hp and 969 Nm of torque. However, in its Instagram post, Glickenhaus notes
that it will modify the LT5 up to 840 hp and 1,050 Nm of torque. As
the LT5 is available as a crate engine directly from Chevrolet, making an
LT5-powered Baja Boot shouldn’t be all that much trouble for the niche
automaker and race team.
It remains unclear if the Baja Boot would
benefit from any other modifications to support the added grunt. As standard,
it features four-wheel independent suspension with 19 inches of travel and
37-inch all-terrain tires, while those who want something even more capable
off-road can opt for the Baja package that increases suspension travel to 22
inches.
