The author of these photos claims they depict the upcoming Ford Maverick, a compact-sized pickup truck with a Ranger-like exterior, new F-150-style wheel arches and a shorter bed.
The newcomer utilizes the Ford C2 platform
of the new Bronco Sport, Escape/Kuga, Focus and Lincoln Corsair models. It
looks like the entry spec may come with a front-wheel drive, while higher specs
will benefit from AWD. Given that the recently launched Bronco Sport is quite
at home in the wilderness (watch the video for an illustration), it would make
sense if Ford released a Sport version of the Maverick as well.
The launch had originally been planned for
2021, but with the latest news about logistics disruption caused by Covid, it
might end up postponed to 2022. Having said that, Ford did mention an “exciting
new model” coming to the dealerships next year, so maybe it was referring to
the Maverick.
