Audi introduced the e-tron GT concept at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show and it will finally debut in production form on February 9th. While the teaser image isn’t very revealing, it’s clear the production model will closely echo the concept. As a result, the 2022 e-tron GT will be a sleek four-door coupe with a fully enclosed grille that is flanked by slender headlights. The model will also feature recessed air intakes, ventilated front fenders and a charger port on the driver’s side.
The side view is undoubtedly the car’s
best angle as the e-Tron GT features a rakish windscreen that flows into a
sloping roof that continues all the way to the rear end. The model also sports
muscular rear haunches and aerodynamically optimized wheels. Out back, there
will be stylish taillights that are connected by a thin illuminated strip.
Further below, there will be a sporty diffuser and a rear bumper which lacks
exhaust cut outs as the model is fully electric.
While full details will be announced next
month, e-tron GT will have a lot in common with the Porsche Taycan. Multiple
variants are expected and Audi used CES to reveal the RS variant will have
all-wheel steering and a dual motor all-wheel drive system with torque
vectoring. The motors are set to have a combined output of up to 637 hp and allow for a 0-96 km/h time of less than 3.5 seconds.
The big question remains the range and
that’s the figure everyone will be looking at, especially with the new Tesla
Model S Plaid+ boasting an estimated range of more than 837 km.
