By the middle of the decade, Dacia will have expanded its lineup with a new flagship SUV, among other new models it’s preparing. Previewed by the Bigster Concept last week, it will sit above the Duster, offering similar interior space to the Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan X-Trail at a much more budget-friendly starting price.
These renderings, signed by KDesign, show
the Dacia study as a Renault, with a grille inspired by the Koleos, new
headlamps that remind of modern Volvos and a bumper with Duster influences. The
bonnet has become less aggressive and is no longer flanked by the fenders, as
it sits above them in a clam shell design, the side mirrors are more rounded,
the door handles have a more realistic design and the taillights appear to have
been lifted from the XC40. The wheels are also new, but this is where the
changes end, as the rest of the render carries over from the Bigster, including
the chunky plastic cladding on the lower parts of the body, fat rear fenders
and double-bubble roof spoiler.
The production model clearly won’t look
anything like this, and while we do not know anything about its design yet, we
can tell you that it will share the CMF-B platform with the latest Logan and
Sandero, and with the Renault Clio, Captur, Nissan Juke and Note. The engine
family will supposedly include at least one hybrid, in addition to several
petrol units and perhaps an LPG and/or a CNG version, but no diesel in all
likelihood.
