Wrangler fans have been clamoring for a V8 engine for decades, and hopefully they’ve been saving as Jeep has announced the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Launch Edition will cost a staggering US$ 73,500. That’s more than twice as much as the entry-level Wrangler and it’s even more expensive than the 702 hp Ram 1500 TRX. Putting aside the massive price tag, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Launch Edition aims to be the ultimate Jeep as it features a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 pumping out 470 hp and 637 Nm of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system, which enables the model to run from 0-96 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
The powertrain is just part of the story
as the Wrangler Rubicon 392 has upgraded frame rails, a 2-inch factory lift kit
and a unique suspension with FOX high-performance shocks. The model also sports
an active dual-mode exhaust system and a functional hood scoop which is
connected to a “tri-level Hydro-Guide” air intake. The latter filters out water
at up to 57 liters per minute and enables the vehicle to traverse
depths of up to 826 mm.
On top of that, the Wrangler has signature
bronze accents and heavy-duty Dana 44 axles with electronic locking
differentials. Other highlights include an electronic front sway bar disconnect
and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels wrapped in 33-inch tires. Moving into the
cabin, the Launch Edition has leather sport seats with unique bronze contrast
stitching. Other highlights include an 8.4-inch infotainment system and a
performance steering wheel with paddle shifters.
While the model comes nicely equipped,
there are a handful of options including dual door and dual top groups, a power
retractable soft top, a trailer tow package and an off-road camera system. If
the price tag hasn’t scared you off, you can look forward to the Wrangler
Rubicon 392 arriving at dealerships later this quarter.
