Aston Martin used their 2020 financial year results to tease an assortment of upcoming models. The big takeaway is that more than 10 new vehicles will be launched with Mercedes technology by 2023. The company didn’t go into many specifics, but noted their front-engine lineup will receive a “full refresh.” This means we can expect updated versions of the DBS, DB11 and Vantage. Furthermore, it sounds like Aston Martin is planning a slew of special editions to increase the profitability of these models.
The DBX launched last year as Aston
Martin’s first crossover and it won’t be their last as we can expect an SUV
“platform expansion with derivatives and new car lines.” This suggests there
will be a second crossover as well as new versions of the DBX. A slide teased
one of these upcoming models, but unfortunately it doesn’t reveal much other
than a rakish windscreen and a sloping roof.
Speaking of crossovers, Aston Martin
confirmed the first DBX variant is slated for the third quarter of this year.
It remains unclear what form it will take, but speculation has suggested
everything from a crossover coupe to a long-wheelbase variant for China. On the
mid-engine side of things, we can expect a new Vanquish to arrive sometime
after the Valhalla launches in the second half of 2023. In the short term,
Aston is planning to expand the Valkyrie lineup in the fourth quarter of this
year.
While a lot of details remain hazy, the
British automaker is embracing electrification. Starting in 2024, all new
models will be offered with electrified or electric powertrains and by 2030,
more than 90% of the company’s portfolio will either be electric or
electrified. Last but not last, Aston Martin said we can expect updated
infotainment systems in 2023 or 2024.
