The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is expected to start arriving in Australia in limited numbers from August, but in the meantime, the automaker has released the official pricing and details of the luxury SUV. Available from AU$ 358,300 (US$ 275,477), excluding on-road costs, dealer fees and options, it uses a bi-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 557 PS and 730 Nm of torque.

Another 22 PS and 250 Nm is supplied by the 48-volt system, and the thrust is channeled to the 4Matic AWD system through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Despite weighing almost 2.8 tons, it can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

The typical Maybach grille, chrome exterior detailing, specific wheels, Maybach badging and electrically extending running boards that improve ingress and egress, as well as the available two-tone paintwork, set the model apart from the regular Mercedes-Benz GLS lineup.

The icing on the cake is the cocooned cabin that offers seating for five. The rear bench can be replaced by two individual seats for a more exclusive atmosphere, and customers can also choose a fixed center console that is available with extending folding tables and even a refrigerator with space for champagne bottles, because this is, after all, a Maybach.

Mind you, optional equipment such as fine Nappa leather, heated and ventilated seats with massage function, electrically operated sunroof with opaque roller blind, E-Active Body Control (the AirMatic suspension is standard) and others will further bump the price of the GLS 600.
