Porsche has provided us with an insight into the testing program of the Taycan Cross Turismo before the vehicle is unveiled on March 4. While one could be excused for thinking the Cross Turismo is simply a Taycan with a different rear end, Porsche has tested the car for 998,361 km in some of the world’s harshest environments, including the Pyrenees and Africa. It has also been tested at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Hockenheimring, Nardo, and at Porsche’s Weissach Development Center.
In the last six weeks, the Taycan Cross
Turismo embarked on a test tour with media representatives in the five largest
markets for the car, the U.S., UK, Norway, the Netherlands, and Germany. The
car has also underwent 325 hours of testing in the wind tunnel, where the
Taycan saloon had already spent 1,500 hours.
The German car manufacturer says the
Taycan Cross Turismo has significantly more headroom for rear-seat passengers
and a larger load capacity under the tailgate than the sedan.
