Rolls Royce is introducing the new Phantom Tempus Collection, a new limited edition of the brand’s flagship model inspired by “time, astronomical phenomena and the infinite reaches of the universe”. The new limited-edition Phantom is strictly limited to 20 examples, all of which have already been spoken for.

The design of the Phantom Tempus combines different themes relating to time and the universe; one key component is the pulsar, a rare astronomical phenomenon, found only in the deepest reaches of space. These very dense, white-hot stars emit electromagnetic radiation in extremely regular pulses, making them the most accurate clocks in the universe.

This remarkable force of nature is portrayed in a bespoke Starlight headliner, made out of fiber-optic lighting and intricate bespoke embroidery. Rolls Royce calls the end result the Pulsar headliner. Another custom feature is the ‘Frozen Flow of Time’ artwork, housed in the fascia of the dashboard. Milled out of a single billet of aluminum to form 100 individually contoured columns, the piece represents the 100-million-year period of a rotational spin of a pulsar star. In addition, there’s no clock present on the dashboard, to signify the owners’ “freedom from time and its limitations”.

Rolls Royce has added a description of the dashboard artwork on an engraved plaque in the glove compartment, together with a quote from Albert Einstein: “The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion”. The door cards are also bespoke, featuring hundreds of illuminated perforations, including those in contrasting leather for a greater depth and detail to the effect.

The exterior of the new Rolls Royce Phantom Tempus is painted in the bespoke Kairos Blue finish, which incorporates jewel-like blue mica flakes that glitter and glint as they catch the light, just like stars do. The special paintwork is combined with black exterior detailing. In addition, the Spirit of Ecstasy on the bonnet is personalized with a unique date and location of particular significance to the client.

The finishing touch is the unique Tempus Champagne Chest. This includes a pulsar artwork hand-painted onto the table, below which is the chest housing thermal flasks for chilling both your champagne and caviar, together with four hand-blown crystal flutes arranged to evoke a V12 engine and a caviar spoon.
