Want a van that turns just as many heads as a sports car? Well, the new Transporter T6.1 Sportline launched by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK could be for you. Eager to spruce up the Transporter, VW has equipped it with a wild bodykit even more pronounced than those of the Golf GTI and Golf R. Included in the kit is a beefed-up front bumper with a red strip on the grille, extended side skirts, a unique rear bumper, and a roof-mounted spoiler.

Volkswagen has also gone to the trouble of lowering the vehicle’s ride height by 30 mm and equipping it with a set of gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels. The example pictured is finished in Indium Grey but customers will also be able to order the van in Fortana Red, Ravenna Blue, and Copper Bronze.

Alterations continue into the cabin and include luxurious Nappa leather and suede trim with honeycomb stitching with a special Sportline logo. As standard, the van is also equipped with heated front seats, a digital gauge cluster, DAB radio, automatic climate control, front windshield heating, and a Discover Media Navigation system. A rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control with city emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and an anti-theft alarm system are also standard.

VW will also offer the Transporter T6.1 Sportline in Black Edition guise that adds new wheels, matte black side bars, Eibach coilover suspension, Black Edition decals, 90 per cent rear window tint on Kombi models, and a Sportline gift box. Pricing for the VW Transporter T6.1 Sportline starts at £ 42,940 (US$ 59,702) while the Black Edition is available from £ 45,140 (US$ 62,761).
