Kia has started accepting pre-orders for the EV6 in the United Kingdom and also announced its local pricing. Securing a build slot costs a refundable £ 100 (US$ 137). Those who will do so will be invited to place the order during a two-week period of May ahead of the general sales launch and will be rewarded with a one-year free subscription to KiaCharge Plus and access to Ionity’s charging network.
The 2021 EV6 lineup comprises of three
trim levels. The entry-level starts at £ 40,895 (US$ 56,344), and its standard
equipment includes LED headlamps, 12.3-inch curved displays, dual-zone climate
control, smart key, highway driving assist, intelligent speed limit assist and
forward collision avoidance assist.
The mid-range EV6 GT-line has a
recommended retail price of £ 43,895 (US$ 60,344) and adds special detailing inside
and out, suede and vegan leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front
seats with memory setting for the driver and LED ambient lighting. Finally, the
EV6 GT features a sportier exterior styling, flush-mounted door handles,
21-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin tires, neon green brake calipers,
intelligent headlights, front sports seats and premium sound system, and starts
at £ 58,295 (US$ 80,140).
Depending on the trim level, customers
will have to choose between different zero-emission powertrains. The lineup
kicks off with the 58 kWh battery that powers a 170 PS rear-mounted electric motor. The AWD variant adds a second motor, increasing
the output to 235 PS. With the 77.4 kWh battery comes a more
powerful motor that develops 228 PS, while the AWD model
brings 325 PS.
Available exclusively with AWD and the
bigger battery, the EV6 GT boasts 585 PS, for a 0-100 km/h of 3.5 seconds, 1.7 and 2.7 seconds quicker than the mid-level and
base variants respectively. UK deliveries of the Korean brand’s new electric
crossover will kick off in October, while those opting for the EV6 GT will get
their rides in 2022.
