Haval Australia has released pricing and specification details for the new Jolion small SUV’s full-time range, which has just started to arrive in showrooms. Three grades are available, with the entry-level Premium (available from late June) priced from AU$ 25,490 driveaway, while the mid-range Lux and flagship Ultra check in at AU$ 27,990 and AU$ 30,990 respectively.

It’s worth noting that apart from a specific mesh grille insert, the Lux and Ultra are priced and specified exactly the same as the limited-edition Lux LE and Ultra LE, 300 examples of which went on sale a matter of weeks ago. Standard equipment in the Premium includes 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, rear privacy glass, a 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, manual air-conditioning and fabric upholstery.

Advanced driver-assist systems extend to front autonomous emergency braking (AEB) (with pedestrian and cyclist detection), lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors. The Lux adds LED headlights, daytime running lights and foglights; a six-speaker sound system, a 7.0-inch mutlfunction display, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, Comfort-Tek leather upholstery, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and surround-view cameras. Meanwhile, the Ultra also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia system, a head-up display and a wireless smartphone charger.

A 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder petrol engine motivates the Jolion, with it developing 110 kW of power at 5900 rpm and 210 Nm of torque from 1900-4500 rpm. As such, it’s just as potent as the H2 small SUV it will ultimately replace. The Jolion does, however, go it alone with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (with paddle-shifters), while the H2 has a six-speed torque-converter unit. Nonetheless, both models send drive to the front wheels.

Like all Haval Australia models, the new Mitsubishi ASX, MG ZS, Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, Toyota C-HR and Kia Seltos rival comes with a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
