It’s been more than a year since Volkswagen unwrapped the new-gen Golf GTI. Since then, ‘the people’s hot hatch’ has been subjected to all sorts of tests and been modified by a number of tuners. One of the first to have modified the new Golf GTI was DTE, who gave it 301 PS and 418 Nm of torque. Likewise, RaceChip boosted the 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine’s output from the standard model’s 245 PS and 370 Nm to 300 PS and 420 Nm.
The latest tuning house to launch their
own take on the GTI is Oettinger and, unlike others, they’ve left the engine
untouched. The German tuner’s proposal includes a slightly updated look thanks
to a new front splitter, a roof mounted spoiler and a rear diffuser. Made of
“RIM in original equipment quality”, according to Oettinger, which makes them
“easy to fit”, the parts were tested in the wind tunnel and will soon arrive in
the Volkswagen Accessories catalogue, as well as at the brand’s official
partners.
In addition to the slightly updated design
of the front-wheel drive hot hatch, the pictured car also features a set of
H&R springs. The twin-spoke 7.5×19-inch wheels are from the Volkswagen
Accessories range and were pained in Red Edition on the driver’s side and in
Glossy Black on the passenger’s side.
This is where Oettinger drew the line, but
not before announcing that they will launch a few upgrades for the new Golf R
as well.
