Assembled at the Sakahogi plant, in Gifu, Japan, since 2006, the fourth generation Pajero (Shogun) is one of the oldest vehicles still on sale. However, its time is up as Mitsubishi will soon be pulling the plug on it for good. Before putting to rest, the automaker has announced the 2022 Pajero Final Edition for Australia. 800 units of the famous off-roader will see the light of day, all of them identified by the special ‘Final Edition’ badging, across the GLX, GLS and Exceed trim levels.
The entry-level model brings seating for
seven, an infotainment system and reversing camera. 18-inch alloy wheels, rear
parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers and dusk-sensing headlights, power
adjustable heated front seats and Rockford audio are reserved for the mid-range
variant. The top-of-the-line model adds an electric sunroof, leather
upholstery, aluminum pedals, and chrome windscreen surround and side protection
strip, as well as an alarm.
Mitsubishi has also equipped all of them
with a tinted bonnet protector, rear cargo liner, rear boot flap, carpet mats
and specially branded leather compendium. Powering the 2022 Pajero Final
Edition Down Under is the same 3.2-liter turbodiesel engine used on the Pajero
Final Edition in Japan, two years ago. It offers a total output of 192
PS and 441 Nm of torque, and comes matched to a
five-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system with locking rear
differential. The average fuel consumption is rated at 9.1 l/100 km (25.85 mpg
US).
