Kia is nearly ready to unveil the next-gen Sportage, but its Russian office seems content with rehashing the old model. The costly AWD Prestige and Premium trim levels received their Black Editions back in February, and the Luxe trim gets one now.

The Sportage Luxe Plus Black Edition is a middle-ground spec that slots in between the Edition Plus and the Prestige Black Edition. It can be obtained with a 2.0-liter engine rated at 150 PS and a front-wheel drive system, but you could pay extra for a 2.4-liter engine, 184 PS and AWD. The transmission is six-speed automatic in both cases.

The telltale features of the Black Edition include darkened bumper details, radiator grille, badges, and 17-inch wheels. Kia Russia has already sold over 2,000 Sportage Black Edition models since the February launch, hence the decision to expand the lineup.
