Hot on the heels of the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray being announced and detailed, the online configurator for the mid-engined sports car has been released. Chevrolet was never expected to make any significant alterations to the Corvette for the 2022 model year and among the changes that have been made is the availability of three new colors dubbed Hypersonic Grey, Caffeine, and Amplify Orange Tintcoat.

Chevrolet officially refers to this online tool as a ‘visualizer’ and as such, it isn’t quite as comprehensive as the eventual configurator will be. Nevertheless, you can play around with some of the new features, including these three new colors, as well as a new rear spoiler than the sports car is available with. Admittedly, the visualizer is quite buggy and it may take you a few refreshes to get it working properly.

Beyond the addition of some new colors, Chevrolet has tweaked the car’s 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine. It now features an upgraded direct injection fuel system that operates at higher pressures now and will help to lower emissions and provide improved stability at idle. Power continues to sit at 490 hp for the standard model and 495 hp when equipped with the performance exhaust.

Alterations have also been made to the V8’s Active Fuel Management system so it now deactivates cylinders over a broader range of rpms and in lower gears. Fuel economy should improve as a result. The biggest change made to the 2022 Corvette range, however, is the availability of a limited-run IMSA GTLM Championship Edition model.
