Fiat revealed new images of the upcoming Pulse, a sub-compact crossover designed for the South American markets, including our first view of the interior. Fiat’s latest SUV that was named with the help of a voting competition will make its market launch this September in Brazil.

The Pulse takes a different approach from the European 500X incorporating a modern design language similar to the Fiat Strada pickup, although this one gets more chrome above the headlights and the grille. It also comes with plastic cladding all around the bodywork and a bi-tone exterior. Mind you, the pictured model is probably the top-spec variant with LED lighting and large-diameter alloy wheels.

The Pulse is based on the new MLA platform which is different than the MP1 underpinning the similarly sized Argo hatchback and Chronos sedan, both exclusively available in South America. The dashboard looks kind of basic, but it has everything you would expect from a modern car. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster – already found in the Fiat Toro – is combined with a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment sitting on the top of the center console. There is also a leather steering wheel with integrated buttons and physical knobs for the automatic air conditioning.

While we don’t have official information on the powertrains, it is rumored that the Pulse will be fitted with a naturally aspirated 1.3-liter engine, a turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-liter, and a mild-hybrid 1.3 liter. The CVT automatic will be standard while a manual will be offered as an option. The Fiat Pulse will make its official premiere this September.
