In just a few short weeks, the new Nissan Z will be presented and according to a report out of Japan, it will be just the first in a series of variants to follow in the coming years. We know that the new Z will feature a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine with at least 400 hp that will be coupled to either a six-speed manual or a Mercedes-sourced 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. However, Nissan won’t rest on its laurels and according to Best Car Web, has already given the green light to a Nismo variant.

The Japanese publication asserts that the new Nissan Z Nismo could be introduced as soon as March 2022 and in addition to getting a touch more power, could be fitted as standard with 20-inch wheels as opposed to the 19-inch wheels of the standard model. In addition, Nismo could strengthen the body and suspension to improve the car’s handling.

In addition to work on a Nismo version of the Z, Nissan is said to be developing a GT4 race car that would compete against the likes of the Toyota Supra GT4. In addition, Best Car Web asserts that the new Z will take the reins from the aging GT-R as Nissan’s entry in Japan’s Super GT race series.
