Jeep unveiled the Xtreme Recon Package for the Jeep Wrangler at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show. The package adds 17-inch by 8-inch beadlock-capable wheels wrapped in LT315/70R17C (35-inch) BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tires from the factory. To accommodate those big wheels, Wranglers fitted with the package will also get a 1.5-inch suspension lift with uniquely tuned shocks and swing gate reinforcement, and a 4.56:1 axle ratio.

Jeep claims that the modifications help give it best-in-class approach (47.4 degrees) and departure angles (40.4 degrees), as well as ground clearance (12.9 inches), and water fording capability (33.6 inches). It also gets a 26.7-degree break-over angle. The package is available now on the Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited 3.6-liter automatic with eTorque and the Wrangler Rubicon 392 as a US$ 3,995 option. Production will start in August at Jeep’s Toledo plant in Ohio.

The company has also announced that it will introduce a new 4.88:1 axle ratio for the Wrangler Rubicon later this year. When paired with the six-speed manual transmission, the optional axle can deliver a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio to improve its off-roading abilities. The axle will be available later this year on two- and four-door Wrangler Rubicon models equipped with the 3.6-liter V6 engine.
