Hyundai previewed the Ioniq 6 with last year’s Prophecy concept and it appears the production model will retain its digital side mirrors. As you can see in this YouTube video, prototypes have been spotted with rectangular side mirror cameras that send a live video feed to displays mounted inside near the A-pillars. While this isn’t unheard of, it’s unusual to see the technology being offered by a mainstream brand. In the past, digital side mirrors have been relegated to luxury models such as the Audi E-Tron and Lexus ES. They will also be found on the upcoming Genesis GV60.

Besides the high-tech mirrors, we can see a two-tone interior with a floating center console and perforated leather front seats featuring orange accents. The rear seats are pretty plain by comparison, but it appears there will be plenty of legroom in back. Elsewhere, there are ribbed door panels with floating armrests that feature prominent speaker grilles. The dashboard is unfortunately covered, but we can expect to find a digital instrument cluster and a widescreen infotainment system.

The video doesn’t show many exterior pictures, but its clear the model will closely resemble the Prophecy. However, the styling will be toned down a bit and the flush-mounted door handles will apparently be replaced by more conventional components. Hyundai has previously said the Ioniq 6 will arrive in late 2022 and be a “secondary volume leader” that serves as a replacement for the original Ioniq. The Sonata-sized EV will ride on the eGMP platform and feature a 73 kWh battery pack as well as two different powertrains.

The first has a single electric motor producing 215 hp, while the second has a dual-motor powertrain developing a combined output of 308 hp. The Ioniq 6 is also targeted to have a range in excess of 483 km.
