The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off tomorrow and McMurtry Automotive is looking to make a splash with the experimental Spéirling. The company is staying tight-lipped about the vehicle, but described it as a pure electric track car concept. McMurtry went on to say the Spéirling explores the route that “uninhibited technical evolution would have taken from the golden age of racing to shape the motorsport of today.”
That isn’t much to go on, but the pictures show an extreme looking coupe with a carbon fiber front bumper. We can also see I-shaped headlights, ventilated wheel wells and a central cockpit. The sporty styling continues in profile as the Spéirling has a long hood and a short front overhang. The model has also been equipped with front fender vents, aerodynamic wheel covers and a sloping roof with two fins.
Out back, there’s a ventilated fascia and a massive diffuser that provides a glimpse of the V-shaped rear underbody. There are also four brake lights and two radiators. There’s no word on performance specifications, but McMurtry said their goal is to “invent, engineer and develop electric vehicles to challenge conventions surrounding the automotive industry.” The company went on to say they want a future where cars are eco-friendly, but the pleasure of driving is uncompromised.
McMurtry added the Spéirling is a “demonstrator for technologies that will enhance the future of mobility” as well as a possible glimpse into the future of motorsport. The company also teased it could be the fastest electric car in the world, but that remains to be seen.
