The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet, one of the few SUVs with a two-door soft-top bodystyle in existence, premiered in 2019, two years after its five-door fixed-roof sibling. However, spy photos of a fully undisguised test car, suggest that it will soon receive a subtle facelift, coinciding with the updates on the regular T-Roc. As expected, the facelifted model retains most of the bodywork and the signature soft top. Changes are limited to the redesigned bumper which houses a slightly slimmer grille, new headlight graphics, larger LEDs around the faux intakes, and different skid plates.
The profile looks identical while at the back, the designers changed the lower part of the rear bumper and added new taillight graphics which will be shared with other versions of the T-Roc.
The T-Roc Cabriolet is currently available in Europe with the three-cylinder 1.0 TSI producing 113 hp and the more potent four-cylinder 1.5 TSI producing 148 hp. Both engines are expected to be carried over to the facelifted model with small updates. The market launch of the facelifted T-Roc Cabriolet is expected in early 2022. The open-top variant will be produced in VW’s factory at Osnabrück (Germany) alongside Porsche Cayman. VW’s convertible crossover will remain a unique proposition in the market, targeting those looking for an unconventional drop-top model.
