If you watch the enclosed video showing the genuine Mach-E and compare it to the weird vehicle on these freshly made spy photos, you will notice that the test mule has a distinctly longer wheelbase, wider track and higher clearance than the car it tries to pass itself as. According to various media, Ford could be testing a new modification of the GE1 EV platform, presumably named the GE2.

As you may remember, Ford is currently working on releasing an electric version or the Edge SUV. A similar vehicle dubbed the Nautilus EV will be produced by Lincoln. Perhaps the two will be identical in terms of chassis and tech and only differ slightly in design.

At any rate, we have no better leads at the moment. Both the Edge EV and the Nautilus EV may reach the market in 2022, but when the production may start is anyone’s guess. The Ford factory in Cuautitlán, Mexico will have to be upgraded or even completely rebuilt before it can start producing EVs on these innovative platforms.
