Simple Energy, a new start up, has launched the Simple One, the company’s first electric scooter in India. It has a patented PMSM motor with up to 4.5 KW nominal power and 72NM peak torque that can go from 0 to 40kmph in just 2.95 seconds and has a top speed of 105 km/h with 100/80-12F & (with 110/80-12) R tyres and 98Kmph with 90/90-12 F&R tyres. There are Four modes – Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic. The scooter has IP67 ratings for the whole scooter, battery pack and the display and a gradability of 20°.
The scooter has a lightweight and strong chassis in a tubular design. The scooter has a telescopic fork suspension on the front and symmetric mounted progressive mono-shock in the back. It uses a chain drive transmission, 200mm rear and 190mm front disk brakes. The boot space has 30 litres space and the scooter has a kerb weight of 110 kgs. It has a 7-inch (1024×600 pixels) touchscreen with up to 1000 nits brightness, a customizable interface and is 4G and Bluetooth 5.2 enabled to take calls, listen to music on the go and more. The scooter also comes with a mobile application with geofencing, vehicle tracking, tyre pressure monitoring, option to book service and more.
The scooter has a 4.8KWh battery that uses a 21700 cell, and it has a separate 7KG removable battery pack with a part of the battery fixed, so you can remove the battery pack to charge it, but the fixed battery can only be charged with the socket in the scooter. It takes 75 minutes to charge the portable battery and the fixed battery charging takes 150 minutes. For public charging, it charges 2.5 KM in 1 minute. The company says that it has Indian Drive Cycle (IDC) range of up to 236 KM and the range in Eco mode is 203 KM, which it claims is the longest in India and the world for any electric scooter.
The company says that it is setting up 300+ Simple Loop charging stations in several cities across 12 states in India in the next 7 months. Simple Energy said that it is building a factory with a 1 million capacity per year, has an ecosystem of 120 vendors and over 70 suppliers. The Simple One Electric Scooter comes in Namma Red, Grace White, Azure Blue and Brazen Black colours. It is priced at Rs. 1,09,999 (ex-showroom). It will be cheaper in some states with additional state subsidies. The scooter is now available for pre-booking at simpleenergy.in for amount of Rs 1,947. The company just said it will be live in 75 cities in 13 states across India in a couple of months.
