CarNewsChina has posted the first photos of the BAW S3, a tiny urban electric car set to go on sale in the country in midsummer priced from 40,000 Yuan (US$ 6,000).
The only motor the vehicle has propels it
forward with 27 PS and 85 Nm of torque. The speed
cannot go above 100 km/h, and buyers will have to decide among three
battery sizes. There are no kilowatt-hour ratings in the announcement, but the
ranges are given as 120, 170 and 200 kilometers.
Like the best-selling Wuling EV and the
upcoming Chery subcompact, the BAW S3 is a four-seater barely over 3 meters
long. Specifically, it is 3,151 mm long, 1,498 mm wide and 1,585 mm tall with 2,050 mm between the axles.
The body boasts a two-tone finish with the
roof always offset in white. A look inside reveals abundant color accents, such
as pink door panel inserts, dashboard details and center console trim. Matching
eco-leather can be found on the seats, the steering wheel and even the wheel
hub.
The gallery also previews orange and green
cars, but there are no interior shots for either. CarNewsChina reports that the
standard trim spec includes a dual dash display, power windows, power side
mirrors, an AC, a reversing camera, and tire pressure control.
