Haval had intended to unveil its Cool Dog SUV on June 23, but postponed the premiere due to yet another Covid outbreak. Those who were anxious to see the car may at least savor its interior shots now. If you remember, the X Dog Concept shown last year had a plethora of displays inside. In contrast, the production-ready Cool Dog makes do with a normal-looking dash and just a couple of displays. There are no hardware buttons on the center console, meaning you are supposed to use a touchscreen to adjust HVAC.
Other than that, the trim is vivid and
original, the gear shifter is curved and the front headrests have in-built
speakers in them. The latter feature is not exactly new per se, but it is still
uncommon in mass-market cars. Options include drive mode selection, wireless
charging, panoramic glass roof and JBL audio.
Haval revealed the exterior of the Cool
Dog (domestically named KuGou) at the beginning of the year. Like its big
cousin DaGou/Dargo, it comes based on L.E.M.O.N. architecture with rugged
looks. At 4.52 meters long, the Cool Dog is just 10 centimeters shorter than the Dargo. Its engine range remains to be announced, but rumor has
it the car will ship with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder good for 184
