Changan has revealed the pricing range of its upcoming Shenlan SL03 model, an all-electric liftback co-designed with tech giant Huawei and battery maker CATL. The car will fall within the territory of 179,800–231,800 Chinese Yuan. All particulars, including trim levels and their specific pricing, remain to be announced. Even so, it is already clear that the newcomer outperforms the Tesla Model 3 in terms of affordability in China, where the latter starts from 290,000 Yuan before options.

In its most basic spec, the Shenlan SL03 comes equipped with a single electric motor making 218 PS. A 58-kWh traction battery lets it cover 515 km on a charge according to the CLTC standard. The next spec benefits from a 258-PS motor and a larger 78-kWh battery rated for 712 km of range. The drive is on the rear axle in both cases.

Inside, there is a 14.6-inch infotainment panel that automatically swivels by up to 15 degrees to face either the driver or the passenger – you merely have to wave to get its ‘attention’.

Aside from electric cars, the marque promises to show us a 1.5-liter range-extender hybrid and a hydrogen car next. These are designed to have 1,200 and 700 kilometers of range, respectively.
