Volkswagen has released yet another teaser dedicated to the second-gen Amarok pickup, emphasizing the continued presence of physical knobs and buttons in its interior. The premiere remains set for Thursday, July 7. The camera briefly focuses on crystals that subsequently turn into the ribbed trim surrounding the multimedia control dial. The round controller with a button in its middle sits among other hardware buttons assigned to the most used features.
The manufacturer explains that the pickup
truck is intended to be drivable away from roads and through tight spots, which
makes the touchscreen UI a poor choice for the job. Standard buttons –
especially when textured – let you operate them intuitively without taking your
eyes off the road.
Other than that, the new Amarok will be
differently laid out that the Ford Ranger it is based upon, but will inherit
its 12-inch display. It will ship with a number of four-cylinder petrol and
diesel engines, as well as a range-topping V6 rated at 250 PS. Rumor has it the list of new driving assist features may be 20 entries
long.
