The Korea-made Chevrolet Aveo became history in 2020 leaving no successor, but the model remained on sale in Mexico, where it is essentially just a rebadged, locally assembled Chevrolet Sail manufactured in China. This model is now going into its second generation, changing the body style from sedan to hatchback.
The Aveo Mk2 was designed by the
SAIC-GM-Wuling joint enterprise in China specifically for Mexico. The available
information is scarce, but we know firsthand that the vehicle utilizes a
simplistic chassis with semi-dependent rear suspension, 15-inch wheels, halogen
headlights and rotor brakes at both ends. According to Mexican media, it is
expected to ship with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 110 PS, obtainable with either manual or automatic transmission.
There are still no cabin shots at this
moment. Chevrolet promises to reveal the car in full in the first half of 2023.
