Audi introduced the facelifted Q8 and SQ8 last fall, and followed up with improved plug-in hybrid variants last month. Now, the company is turning its attention to the range-topping RS Q8. Recently spied wearing a Nürburgring-inspired wrap, the facelifted crossover has a more expressive front end with a revised grille and sportier bumper. We can also see a larger intake as well as updated headlights, which now have slimmer daytime running units.
The changes out back are similar and
include updated taillights as well as a revised bumper. The latter features a
new center-mounted brake light as well as two vertical accents. Spy
photographers didn’t get a look inside, but changes will likely echo those
found on more mainstream variants. As a result, the crossover could have an
updated digital instrument cluster and a modern infotainment system that
supports third-party apps such as Spotify and Amazon Music. The RS Q8 could
also have new trim and upholstery combinations.
The current model is powered by a
twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that develops 591 hp and 800 Nm of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and
a standard quattro all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the Audi
crossover to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, before hitting a
limited top speed of 250 km/h.
There’s no word on when the facelifted RS
Q8 will be unveiled but, considering it’s testing in a marketing-friendly wrap,
an unveiling is likely right around the corner. Of course, it won’t be cheap as
the current model starts at US$ 125,800 before a US$ 1,195 destination fee.
