The Dongfeng Mengshi M-Hero 917 super-SUV, which is already on sale in China, will soon get a special edition named Dragon Armor. It debuted at the Beijing Auto Show last month and has now been registered in the Ministry of Industry database, ITHome reports. Sales can start any day now.
Judging by the images submitted to the
certification agency, the extreme off-roader rides on unique spoked wheels and
takes advantage of slightly improved bumpers that should enhance its
overlanding performance. The hood cover and the aggressive radiator grille
sporting vertical bars are likewise new. The whole SUV is 5,052 mm long with 2,950 mm between the axles.
The company doesn’t go into detail about
the trim options and accessories, but the SUV in the gallery has a visible roof
rack, hang-on boxes, some auxiliary lighting and a trailer hook. The Beijing
show car also had tool racks and a bull bar, which are missing from the spec
sheet and the photos. They might still be available as options, but we won’t
know until the premiere.
The powertrain specification mentions a
1.5-liter engine rated at 197 PS. Since the Mengshi M-Hero is
a supercar, the only way it can use such an engine is as a range extender in a
hybrid powertrain. The M-Hero already on sale in China is available as a hybrid
rated at 816 PS and as a pure EV capable of 1,088 PS.
