The main Great Wall Motor factory began the production of the second-generation Haval H9 SUV on May 8, reports Car News China. It will soon hit showroom floors priced from 170,000 Yuan or close. Sized 5,070 mm long, 1,976 mm wide and 1,930 mm tall with 2,850 mm between the axles, the SUV is much larger and roomier than its predecessor, which had stayed on the local market for a whole decade. It still benefits from a body-on-frame design, although the exterior now resembles that of Haval’s latest crossover, the Raptor.
Customers in China will be choosing from
four colors – white, green, grey and black. The petrol version of the SUV will
be obtainable with 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheel options, while the diesel variant
will roll exclusively on 18-inch wheels.
The interior features a rectangular
dashboard that houses a three-spoke steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital
instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch infotainment display. The transmission
selector is joystick-shaped and resides on the center tunnel, surrounded by
physical buttons. The front seats are heated, ventilated and have built-in
massagers. The rear row can be automatically folded to create a bed suitable
for sleeping. Among other niceties, the base trim already includes a full set
of surround cameras.
Power for the new H9 comes either from a
2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine rated at 224 PS or from
a 2.4-liter turbo diesel capable of 186 PS.
