Spy photographers have snapped the first pictures of what’s believed to be the Skoda Elroq. The model was originally announced last year as an electric Karoq successor. Caught undergoing testing in Europe, the heavily disguised prototype features split lighting units and a slender, fully enclosed grille. They’re joined by vertical air curtains as well as a wide lower intake with metallic accents. Moving further back, we can see pronounced wheel arches and a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof. They’re joined by a prominent character line and muscular rear haunches.
Speaking of the rear end, it features a
minimalist bumper and angular taillights. Designers also gave the compact
crossover an angular rear window and a wraparound spoiler. Spy photographers
only got a glimpse inside, but we can see the model will be equipped with a
large, freestanding infotainment system. We can also see what appears to be a
small instrument cluster.
Little else is known about the model at
this point, but it will slot beneath the Enyaq and arrive later this year.
Skoda has also said the Elroq will measure around 4.5 meters long and be an “ideal family car” with a “spacious, very practical interior.”
The model is expected to ride on the MEB
platform and it will likely share a number of components with its electric
counterparts. This means the model may have a 62 kWh battery pack as well as a
rear-mounted motor developing 177 hp and 310 Nm of torque. We also wouldn’t be surprised to see a more powerful all-wheel drive
variant.
