On September 25, Great Wall Motor’s second-generation Haval H9 SUV with a new design finally entered the market, available in three trims as well as 5- and 7-seater layouts:

  • Tanjing Edition: 199,900 yuan (28,400 USD)
  • Tajing Edition: 215,900 yuan (30,700 USD)
  • Jijing Edition: 229,900 yuan (32,700 USD)

The sales price is 6,000 yuan (850 USD) lower than the pre-sale price. GWM also plans to launch a 2.4T diesel-engine-powered version in the future. It is worth mentioning that the scheduled launch date was on September 19 but was postponed because GWM management thought that the launch conference lacked creativity.

For the exterior, consumers can choose from two different rear designs: equipped with a spare tire or an external square storage unit. The length is 5070 mm and 4950 mm while the width is 1976 mm and 1960 mm, respectively. The height is the same for both versions: 1930 mm. The minimum ground clearance is 224 mm, the approach angle is 31°, the departure angle is 26°/25°, and the wading depth is 800 mm. All the parameter specs are under unloaded condition.

 

The towing capacity is 2.5 tons or 2,268 kg. The second-generation Haval H9 runs on 265/65 R17, 265/60 R18. and 265/55 R19 tires for the three trims, respectively. Additionally, level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities such as lane departure warning, cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition + speeding alarm, just to name a few. In terms of the powertrain, BorgWarner’s Torque-On-Demand (TOD) intelligent four-wheel drive system is standard across the entire series. The second-generation Haval H9 continues to use a 2.0T gasoline engine with a maximum power of 215 hp and a peak torque of 380 Nm, mated to an 8AT. The fuel tank capacity is 80 L.

The interior is set against an orange and black background, equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central control screen, and an oval-shaped steering wheel. There are air-conditioning outlets and physical buttons below the central control screen as well as physical buttons on the center console for various configuration adjustments, and an off-road handle is provided in front of the co-pilot. The seats made of imitation leather materials support heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The standard trunk volume is 791 L for the 5-seater version, which can reach 1814 L after the second row of seats is folded down.
