Belgian
bike manufacturer, Sarolea has pulled the covers off of the SP7 at the
Autoworld show in Brussels. The new machine will try and make it it onto the
podium in the SES TT Zero Challenge Race at the Isle of Man TT. The bike
features lots and lots of carbon and titanium parts, a large electric motor and
is capable of doing 168 mph. The 2015 SES TT Zero Challenge Race takes place on
Wednesday June 10, at 10:45am.
The
legendary Isle of Man TT is drawing closer and closer and companies are slowly
revealing their new machines that try to win one of the most dangerous
motorcycle racing event of the world. One of the most interesting categories of
the race is the TT Zero Challenge that was launched in 2010.
Belgium
outfit Sarolea has launched its new bike for the 2015 TT Zero. The machine is
called the SP7 and it’s an evolution of last year’s bike. In fact, the new SP7
looks very similar from last year’s version, although there are lots of changes
underneath. Most important features are: improved aerodynamics, a revised
center of gravity, a reduction in weight, and a more powerful motor.
The
electric engine is a beast: it delivers 180 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.
Weight is 200 kilograms, 0-60 mph takes 2.8 seconds and top speed is 168 mph.
These figures put the SP7 up there with street superbikes from five years ago.
The electric motor has one big advantage: torque is available whenever and
wherever the throttle is rolled on.
