Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd has launched the Honda Cliq. The product is a specially developed automatic scooter
to maximise utility, targeted at rural India.
Powering the Honda Cliq is the tried and tested
109.19 cc air-cooled mill seen in the Honda Activa and Honda Navi. Coupled to a
V-Matic transmission the engine is capable of producing 8 bhp of maximum power
at 7,000 rpm and 8.94 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The scooter has a kerb
weight of 102 kg and has a claimed top speed of 83 km/h.
The Honda Cliq has a ground clearance of 154 mm and
has a seat height of 743 mm. The scooter has a tiny 3.5-litre fuel tank (Navi
gets a 3.8-litre unit). The Honda Cliq gets a spring loaded hydraulic suspension at both ends. It
is shod with 90/100 tubeless tyres over 10-inch rims at both ends.
The Honda Cliq measures 1,745 mm in length, 695 mm
in width and 1,039 mm in height which makes it smaller than the Honda Activa
4G. The wheelbase of 1,241 mm though is larger than the Activa’s value of 1,238
mm.
Features in the Honda Cliq include underseat mobile
charging socket, wide floor board, luggage carrier, self-start, Combi Brake
System (CBS) with Equalizer, maintenance free battery and Auto Headlamp On
(35-watt). The Honda Cliq also gets optional parts which include front screen,
floor cover, box centre, cap cover and a rear grip.
Colour options for the Honda Cliq include Patriotic
Red with White, Black, Moroccan Blue with White, and Orcus Grey. The Honda Cliq has been priced at INR 42,990 for
the standard variant and at INR 43,490 for the Delux version (prices
ex-showroom, Jaipur). The scooter will be available only in Rajasthan
initially. It will be made available for sale across India in a stage-wise
manner.
