With the Aston Martin DB11 and new Vantage released,
the British carmaker has shifted its attention to developing the
third-generation Vanquish. This test mule was sighted by our spy photographers
not too long ago, and gives us our first look at the grand tourer.
There is some resemblance to the DB11 as engineers
are using the body of one to test the Vanquish’s underpinnings. However,
certain details are still apparent even with all the wraps on the prototype.
The front fascia features a more complex bumper, and there appears to be new
bonnet strakes as well.
Moving towards the rear, only parts of the
taillights are visible, with a large section of the boot lid being covered. It
is likely the new Vanquish might adopt the single thin strip look that is found
on the Vantage, although that isn’t definitive for now. Further down, we see a
quad tailpipe setup rather than the two on a regular DB11.
The Vanquish will offer higher levels of performance
by comparison as well, with Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer stating the model will
look to take on the Ferrari 812 Superfast. To do so, the 5.2 litre
twin-turbocharged V12 is expected to be tuned to deliver 700 hp, while the
finished bodywork gets aerodynamic changes.
