As information about Jeep’s upcoming ‘Scrambler’
pickup truck keeps pouring in, we now have a new piece of the puzzle to stare
at in the shape of a document pulled from an FCA dealer presentation. While its moniker remains
unofficial, FCA source materials do confirm the fact that it will boast an
authentic Jeep design, both off-road and real truck capabilities, 15
class-exclusive innovations, next-gen advanced safety tech, plus Apple CarPlay
and Android Auto connectivity.
The image, posted on the Jeep Scrambler Forum, also
reconfirms the Scrambler’s debut at the 2018 LA Auto Show on November 28th,
which puts us just 26 days away from feasting our eyes on Jeep’s first pickup
truck in almost 30 years, unless more images will leak online until then.
As for what its 15 class-exclusive innovations might
be, Jeep could be referring to Wrangler-like features such as the fold-down
windshield and removable doors and roof, among other things. The overall design
of the vehicle remains a mystery, as prototypes have thus far only
gone out in traffic under heavy camouflage. When it’s all said and done, we do
expect this to look seriously rugged and be more capable enough off-road.
Power is said to come from a standard 285 HP
3.6-liter V6 and an available 270 HP 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot, while a
3.0-liter V6 diesel could be launched after the truck’s official debut, along
with a single cab version.
