Tesla tuner Unplugged Performance has devised a
complete tuning package for the range-topping Model S P100D. On display at SEMA, the S-Apex
Complete Vehicle Program is highlighted by a widebody conversion kit that
increases the car’s overall width by 40 mm on each fender. The
package is made of 19 carbon fiber parts that can be had either in a natural
state or painted to match the vehicle’s body color.
Unplugged Performance says the kit can be tailored
to the customer’s exact preferences. For example, those interested in a
seamless appearance can opt for the integration of exterior panels via
hand-sculpting. Thanks to the wider body, the Model S P100D can now wear wider
tires (up to 335 mm/13.2 in at the rear).
Besides the 19-piece carbon fiber body kit, the
S-Apex Complete Vehicle Program includes a sports suspension, carbon ceramic
brakes, and ultra-light wheels. Available rims are available in diameters of
19, 20, and 21 inches. For example, the 20-inch rims on the show car utilize
carbon fiber barrels for a 50-percent reduction in rotational mass. As a
result, they weigh just 7.6 kg apiece. he Super-light Carbon Ceramic
6-piston braking system brings a further weight reduction of 9 kg, in
addition to the increased stopping power and better fade resistance.
As for the suspension, it features Plug-N-Play
High-Performance Shocks. Unplugged Performance says they are “custom tuned for
the car, yet maintain full compatibility with the factory height-adjustable air
suspension system.” Finally, the tuner also reworked the Model S P100D’s
interior for the 2018 SEMA Show by fitting Alcantara, premium leather and
carbon fiber trim on almost all the components.
Prices for the S-Apex package start at US$ 50,000,
excluding the donor Tesla Model S P100D. That means a new car can exceed US$ 200,000. However, Unplugged Performance can also fit the kit to used P85D,
P90D, and P100D cars.
