BMW Australia has announced a new Shadow Edition for
two variants of the 1 Series hatch. Available in showrooms from early
2019, the 118i Shadow Edition and 125i Shadow Edition lend the enduring
rear-drive hatchback added sportiness, thanks to some dark-themed appointments
inside and out.
Pricing for the 118i Shadow Edition starts at AUD 39,900 drive away, while the 125i Shadow Edition is priced at AUD 49,900 drive
away – identical to the prices attached to the regular 118i and 125i donor
models.
The changes begin with double spoke 18-inch alloy
wheels finished in Jet Black or black and silver ‘BiColour’, then extend to an
LED lighting package, high gloss trim in place of chrome along the windows, and
dark exterior elements on the grille, headlight inserts, tail lights and black
chrome tail pipes.
Inside, the package adds a chunky M Sport steering
wheel, figure-hugging sports seats, wireless phone charging and a dark roof
headliner. Cloth seats remain standard for the 118i, while the 125i Shadow
Edition differentiates itself with leather seats.
The mechanicals of either model go unchanged,
comprising a 136 hp/220 Nm 1.5-litre turbo-triple in the 118i, and a 224 hp /310 Nm
2.0-litre turbo-four in the 125i.
In addition to the Shadow Edition, BMW is offering a
new Style Plus Package for the regular 118i and 125i. Priced at AUD 2900, the
package adds an electric sunroof and metallic paint, along with leather seats
in the 118i and a harmon-kardon surround system on the 125i.
The Shadow Editions land in showrooms from early
next year.
