Hyundai’s latest development is arguably even more bizarre than its aerial taxis: called the Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED for short), it is a tiny four-wheeled autonomous platform that allegedly can be used in a wide variety of daily life scenarios.
The robotic vehicle has four motorized
wheels and a suspension system that can adjust its own height on a per-wheel
basis on the fly, keeping the cabin level even as it climbs or descends slopes.
The top speed is 30 km/h, or 18.6 mph. One of the images thus far revealed
depicts it as a futuristic baby stroller. The development team claims MobED
enables parents to walk alongside their babies, hands free, as the stroller
drives itself. The elderly and people with disabilities are another possible
market.
More details will be revealed at the CES
show early next year.
