Chevrolet has released the first picture of the upcoming Silverado EV Trail Boss. Set to follow the fleet-focused WT and luxurious RST First Edition, the Silverado EV Trail Boss will be a rugged electric pickup. The company hasn’t said much about the model, but we can see it will blend elements from the WT and RST. In particular, it combines the WT’s black front fascia with the RST’s light bar and more aggressive front bumper.
However, the Trail Boss goes a step further
as it adopts red recovery hooks and unique wheels wrapped in meaty off-road
rubber. We also wouldn’t be surprised if the truck was outfitted with an
adaptive air suspension, which can raise or lower the vehicle up to 2 inches
(50 mm).
Specifications for the Trail Boss remain a
mystery, but the WT will have an output of 510 hp and 834 Nm of torque. Likewise, the range-topping RST First Edition will
have 664 hp and 1,056+ Nm of torque. Both trucks
are slated to have a range in excess of 644 km, but Chevrolet
hinted the Silverado EV will be offered with multiple battery packs. There’s no
word on specifics, but the automaker noted the 644+ km range is
possible with the “available” 24-module Ultium battery.
Pricing for the Trail Boss also remains
unclear, but the Silverado EV will start at US$ 39,900 and climb to US$ 105,000 for
the RST First Edition. However, the company has said there will be plenty of
versions in the US$ 50,000 to US$ 80,000 range. While the WT and RST First Edition
will be launched next year, fans will likely have to wait awhile for the Trail
Boss as Chevrolet has previously said they won’t “unleash the full Silverado EV
portfolio” until production ramps up.
