Mahindra has teased the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio SUV ahead of its launch in India. The 30-second teaser video barely reveals the silhouette of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio SUV. Apart from that, the teaser partially reveals the twin-pod LED projector headlamps and LED fog lamps used in the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio.
However, numerous spy shots of the 2022
Mahindra Scorpio that has been doing rounds in the internet reveal much more
than the silhouette and headlamps of the SUV. The latest teaser from Mahindra
could be part of Mahindra's plans to launch the new-gen Scorpio on the 20th
anniversary of the Scorpio in June. Analysing the spy shots of the new Mahindra
Scorpio, it is clear that the latest iteration of the 7-seater SUV looks at
least a size bigger than the current generation model. In fact, the new
Mahindra Scorpio does look slightly bigger than the recently launched Mahindra
XUV700. Though the upcoming new-generation Scorpio does feature an all-new
design language with more aggressive design elements, the SUV does take a lot
of inspiration from the outgoing Scorpio with the inclusion of design elements
such as the upright front-end, boxy twin-pod headlamps, and signature six-slat
grille. In addition to that, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio does seem to have
taken a few design traits from Mahindra's existing XUV lineup of SUVs.
Under the skin, the new 2022 Mahindra
Scorpio is likely to come equipped with a rugged body-on-frame chassis and
powered by Mahindra's tried-and-tested 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit and
2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, these engines are more likely to
come in a lower state of tune compared to the engines in the Mahindra XUV700
SUV. Apart from that, the upcoming 2022 Mahindra Scorpio also likely come with
both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission as options. We also
expect Mahindra to equip the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio with a sophisticated
shift-on-fly four-wheel-drive system and this four-wheel-drive option is more
likely to be available on the top-end variants of the SUV.
Also, the interior of the new Mahindra
Scorpio was recently spied and the new spy shots reveal a drastically improved
interior. According to the spy shots, the interior of the new Scorpio takes
lots of cues from the Mahindra Thar and Mahindra XUV700. We also expect the
top-end variants of the new Mahindra Scorpio to feature a majority of the tech
and features from the Mahindra XUV700. This will include features such as a
large landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto connectivity, fully digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate
control, memory seats, wireless charging pad, cooled glovebox, and much more.
Though Mahindra may offer many features
from the XUV700, we do not expect the new Scorpio to feature the much-hyped
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). We also expect Mahindra to price the
2022 Mahindra Scorpio aggressively with a starting price close to Rs 12 lakh to
Rs 13 lakh mark in order to position the SUV below the Mahindra XUV700.
