The Volkswagen Tiguan has a twin in China called the Tayron. It has original exterior and cabin styling, but runs on the same drivetrain and tech. Now, the Tayron family has received a major update, including the part-electric GTE version and the coupe-like X modification.
You
will immediately recognize the 2023MY Tayron by its revised front and rear ends
dominated by X-shaped patterns. Similar inserts can be seen in the taillights,
too. The headlights, both bumpers and the wheels are all new.
Inside, there is a new 12-inch
infotainment display rising above the dashboard. The old screen was only 9.2
inches large and built completely into the front panel.
Like before, the Volkswagen Tayron comes
with three turbocharged engines to choose from, rated at 150, 186 and 220
metric horsepower. The transmission is a seven-speed DCT in all cases. The GTE
spec combines an engine with a single electric motor for a total of 211 PS.
